Community College

  

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University is one of the few Universities in J&K for which UniversityGrants Commission has granted Community College for Vocational Studies for trade one year Diploma in Travel and Tourism Management. The community college at BGSBU will be accessible to large numbers of individuals of the community, offering low cost and high quality education locally, that encompasses both vocational skills development as well as traditional coursework, thereby providing opportunities to the learner to move into the higher education sector. It offers flexible and open education system which also caters to community based lifelong learning needs. It has a synergistic relationship. It is unique programme where the students have the option to offer Stage one, two, three and accordingly get Diploma, advance diploma and degree respectively. As per new guidelines issued by UGC B.Voc degree would be equivalent to any other degree and students may pursue master programme and are eligible to appear for competitive exams conducted at central and state level where basic eligibility is graduation.

  

Features of the course

  • The course is approved and funded by the UGC.
  • Industry relevant Skilled Oriented Syllabus framed and approved by SSC and NSDC.
  • Students may join degree course (B.voc) after obtaining diploma
  • The students can opt for any of the exit point.
  • Sector skill counsel and industry partner have to participate in curriculum development/training assessment and governance of the community college.
  • The course shall be conducted as Full time/regular course with in the University campus.
  • Practical and interactive sessions to be conducted by experts from industry throughout the course.
  • Placement assistance provide by the University placement cell
  • Every selected candidate will get scholarship of Rs 1000 per month during the course subject to 75% attendance
