The Department runs Masters Programme in Economics in the year 2014 and has also started offering M. Phil and Ph.D. Programme recently. Being the mother of several other programmes, Economics is in great demand in different sectors, such as banking, insurance, accountancy, commerce etc. Postgraduates in Economics have therefore good job market.
The strength of the Department lies in its well qualified faculty that is always enthusiastic to learn and teach. High profile experienced guest faculty drawn from different universities and corporate sector is involved in preparing students for facing the challenges of corporate world with poise and confidence. Teaching in the School is interactive. Students participate in seminars organized regularly to advance their knowledge base and improve articulation.
The Department works in close liaison with the Skills Development and Placement Cell for conducting training sessions on personality development and event management. Participation in these programmes is essential for students of both streams.
The course curricula are based on UGC Model Curriculum and the real world business decisions and economic events. The emphasis of the programmes is on strengthening analytical and critical skills students on rolls. Availability of modern computer laboratories, state-of-the-art teaching aids and internet connectivity- helps students to learn, appreciate and analyse the important events shaping the business world. The School endeavours to produce business students capable of handling managerial positions in business organizations in India and abroad.
