Department of Hindi

The University is offering a 4-year undergraduate B.A. Hindi (Hons) program and two-year M.A. Hindi Programme. In the current scenario, when English dominance continues to grow in the era of globalisation, the study of Indian languages like Hindi becomes even more significant. Hindi is not only India's official language but also the third most spoken language in the world. In the digital age, Hindi usage is rapidly increasing in social media, online content, and digital marketing, expanding employment opportunities in these sectors.

This curriculum represents a significant effort to preserve India's rich linguistic and cultural heritage and reestablish its importance in the modern context. The curriculum includes ancient, medieval and modern Hindi literature, linguistics, translation studies, folk literature, media writing, digital literature, and comparative studies. The department emphasises experiential learning, including literary excursions, author-reader dialogues, creative writing workshops, and digital content creation. Graduates of this program can pursue careers in teaching, translation, publishing, media, content creation, corporate communications, and government services. The program also provides a strong foundation for higher education in Hindi literature, linguistics, media studies, and cultural studies, enabling students to contribute to the preservation and promotion of Indian languages and culture.

The 4-year undergraduate program provides a flexible exit system as per NEP 2020, where students can receive a Certificate after completing one year, an Advanced Diploma after two years, a Bachelor's Degree after three years, and a Bachelor's Degree with Research after four years. All academic credits will be stored in the Academic Bank of Credits, providing students with educational mobility and lifelong learning opportunities
